Project Scope

In June of 2024 Boyer received a request from TRA to facilitate an emergency erosion mitigation repair on the stilling basing at Lake Livingston Dam. The erosion was caused by sustained record releases from the dam’s gates. Within hours Boyer mobilized crews and equipment to begin the repair. As the repair progressed additional damage was discovered, which created additional emergency mobilizations of more Boyer personnel and equipment. The repair resulted in approximately 165,000 tons of 1-inch to 48-inch riprap 9,500 cubic yards of concrete, 6,000 cubic yards of grout, and 15,000 cubic yards of select fill being placed to make the repair. Prior to beginning the repair of a 1.1-mile-long dual lane all weather haul road had to be built to accommodate over 7,500 concrete and rock trucks bringing material into the site. The repair was completed without limiting the dam’s functionality, affecting normal lake levels, or the required releases. The project was completed in January of 2025.
