Project Scope
San Jacinto River Authority’s Lake Houston Pump station site was in need of repairing its main discharge piping. The piping was over 50 years’ old and showing signs of severe corrosion. The pump station could not be entirely shut down during rehab because it is a major component and supplies water to downstream high demand customers. To repair the discharge piping an internal carbon fiber wrap was used to structurally reinforce it, but in order to make this happen a much larger work scope was required. This work scope included installing a new slide gate, grout filled rip-rap, a temporary road crossing, a backup bypass pump system, a carbon fiber structural pipe reinforcement and restore the project site and roads.
