Project Scope

The City of Houston issued an EPO (Emergency Purchase Order) to make repairs to the existing 120” CMP Pipe carrying treated water to the outfall on Braes Bayou. The CMP pipe was collapsed at the headwall, restricting flow to the bayou, and a sinkhole developed over the CMP affecting electrical and data controls to the plant. Temporary supports were installed to protect the utilities so as not to affect plant operations. By-Pass Pumping was installed using five (5) 18” pumps to divert the flow while repairs were made. The bypass pumping system was designed to handle 45 MGD per day. To make repairs, the 120” CMP was exposed and cleaned, skids were installed, and a 104” HOBAS Pipe was slip lined through the existing CMP to the outfall on Upper Braes for a length of 120 LF. The annular space between the HOBAS and the existing CMP was grouted.
