Project Scope
The GCWA Canal Division operates the existing Chocolate Bayou Pump Station, a surface water pump station originally built to supply irrigation water to agricultural customers. Over time, demand shifted from agricultural use to primarily industrial service, and the existing station could no longer meet system needs. As a result, GCWA pursued construction of a new pump station for the Chocolate Bayou system. The new station delivers 50,000 GPM with four pumps in operation. Boyer constructed the new Chocolate Bayou Pump Station, demolished the existing pump station and related structures, and realigned approximately 150 feet of canal while bypass pumping continued. During base excavation, Boyer encountered significantly higher groundwater inflow than anticipated, requiring increased sheet piling and dewatering efforts. Boyer also installed a prefabricated electrical building and four compact submersible pump units provided by GCWA, completed all electrical installations, and terminated the wiring to deliver a complete, fully operational system.
