138kV Polk to Garrett CenterPoint Energy Underground Project

Project Scope

Micro tunnel lengths up to 600’ completed through mid-town and downtown Houston , one reach completed under I-45 (Pearce Elevated) all runs contained 8” PVC duct for 138 KV cables, special grouting for thermal dissipation of heat from conductor to earth. Depth of tunnels ranged from 20’ to 30’ below city streets. Contractor had to maintain two lanes of traffic flow during complete project. Boyer designed all shoring systems and implemented trench safety plan for project, total of 26 tunneling shafts were constructed and removed. All roads were restored to City of Houston specifications.
